The Job Interview (First Part)


Imagine you are looking for a job. You apply for the job online, send your resume and get called in for a formal interview. One person will be the interviewer and the other person will be interviewed. Look through the following vocabulary items and questions:



Vocabulary items promotion, work experience, medical insurance, vacation, bachelor / master / doctor degree, references, salary wage housing, license, dental insurance, creativity, report card / transcript, raise neat, appearance / dress.

Questions:
Interviewer:
  • What kind of experience do you have?
  • What did you study in university or college?
  • Do you have any special skills?
  • What are your good points and bad points?
  • What is your ideal (best) working environment?
Job Applicant:
  • What kind of job do you offer?
  • How much does the job pay?
  • Where is it located?
  • Do you offer any benefits?
  • Is there any chance for a promotion or a raise?
Job Information: Construction Laborer

Skill Requirements

Education: Some high school, Not required.
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc): Not applicable, Not required.
Experience: No experience.
Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English.
Type of Construction: Residential.
Weight Handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
Specific Skills: Load, unload and transport construction materials, Assist in demolishing buildings, Clean and pile salvaged materials, Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites.
Security and Safety: Bondable, Driving record check (abstract).
Own Tools /Equipment:  Steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses /goggles.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:  Fast-paced environment, Tight deadlines, Repetitive tasks, Physically demanding.
Work Site Environment:  Confined spaces, Dusty.
Transportation / Travel Information: Vehicle supplied by employer, valid driver's licence, public transportation is not available.
Work Location Information: Chicago, Cicero, Alsip
