Diamond Head (Hawaii, USA)

Volcanic Cone

Rising 762 Feet (232 m) into the air near the city of Waikiki, Hawaii, is a huge volcanic cone known as Diamond Head, Natives called it Le'ahi ("Brow of the Tuna"). Its English name comes from the calcite crystals, which look like diamonds, embedded in its rocks. Diamond Head erupted and formed about 200,000 year ago, but is now extinct  -no longer active. It has an impressive crater that is 3,520 feet (1073 m) across.
