Ancient Greek Temple
Built for the Greek goddess Athena in 447-432 B.C., this Doric temple sits on the Acropolis of Athena. It endures as a symbol of high Greek art and democracy. It is made of marble and measures:
Length 228 ft x width 102 ft x height 64 ft (69.5X31X19.5 meters).
The sculptor Pheidias supervised its construction and decoration and built t he huge statue of Athena that once stood inside -- but no longer exists.
