Vowel Sounds

Vowel   a:
Like a in English far, father  (Like in Spanish *casa, mano)
* [means in English house, hand]

Vowel   e:
stressed, like a in English pay  (Like in Spanish *dedo, cerca)
unstressed, it has a shorter sound like in English bet, net, ( Like ini Spanish *estado, decidir )
* [means in English finger, near, state , say]

Vowel i:
Like i in English machine or ee in feet, (like in Spanish *fin, sali)
* [means in English end, out]

Vowel o:
Like o in English obey (Like in Spanish *mona, poner)
* [means in English doll, put]

Vowel u:
Like u in English rule or oo in boot, (Like in Spanish *atun, luna)
(like in Spanish) It is silent in gue and gui, *guerra, guisado. If it carries a diaeresis (ü), it is pronounced (see Diphtongs) *bilingüe, bilingüismo.
It is also silent in que and qui *querer, *quinto.

Letter y:
Whe use d as a vowel, it sound like the Spanish i like *rey, y
