When Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan's favorite wife died in childbirth, he was grief-striken. then mausoleum he commissioned  for her in Agra, India. (completed in 1648) i one of the most majestic buildings in the world. It is constructed of white marble and is inlaid with precious and semi-precious stones from around the world. 1,000 elephants were used to transport the building materials.
